Salem: Gertrude A. (Jodoin) Emmett age 76 of Salem, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the NSMC / Salem Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Boley F. Emmett.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Telesphore and Bertha (Rene) Jodoin. Gert was employed by GTE Sylvania at the Danvers, Sylvan Street plant for 37 years and retired as a tester for the company in 1993. She and her late husband moved to Seabrook, NH in 1975. Following the death of Boley in 1988, she returned to Salem in 1999.
Gert was mother of the late Laureen B. Putnam and was also predeceased by her 4 sisters and best friends: Jeannette Corneau, Louise L’Italien, Alma Tarnowski and Albina Sousa.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol A. Comeau and her husband Don of Salem and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 9 am to be followed by her funeral mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem at 10 am.
