Richard W. “Buddy” Cenedella Sr., 79, of Falmouth and Naples, FL died, Thursday, May 1, 2008 after a well fought battle with cancer at his home in Naples. He was husband of Ann (Keefe) Cenedella for 55 years.
Born in Milford on December 31, 1928, he was a son of the late Orient J. and Florence (Tellier) Cenedella. Mr. Cenedella was a resident of Falmouth and Naples for the past 20 years and formerly resided in Medway.
He grew up in Medway and graduated from Medway High School in 1946. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of Private 1st Class and serving from 1951-1953.
Mr. Cenedella was a leader lineman/inspector at Boston Edison for 38 years before his retirement.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #367 in Medway and was also a member of the St. Joseph’s Men’s Club. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and had an avid interest in sports - particularly football.
Besides his wife, he is survived by; seven children, Michael and his wife, Joanne of Townsend, Janet Cenedella of Naples, Stephen and his wife, Clare of Sutton, Mary Cenedella of Fort Myers, FL, John and his wife, Mary Jane of Medway, Theresa Cenedella of Northbridge and Richard, Jr. and his wife Denise of N. Smithfield, RI.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Vera Cenedella of Medway, twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Arthur Cenedella.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday, May 7 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m.
