Obituary

Reuben Michael Fish, 57, of Fitzgerald, died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, May 4 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and Rev. David Biggers officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Saturday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Fish was born August 29, 1950 in Fitzgerald to the late William Samuel Fish and the late Frances “Teat” McDowell Fish Young. He lived in the community all of his life and was a 1970 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. He was a retired CSX locomotive engineer and founder of the Brotherhood of Railroad Members Fraternal Benefit Association. Mr. Fish was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army. He was a member of Arbor Baptist Church and a former employee of Fitzgerald Cotton Mill. Mr. Fish was a First Responder and member of Ben Hill County Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Kathaleen Fish of Fitzgerald; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Allen Conger; son and daughter-in-law, David and Misty Fish; daughter, Valerie Bostick all of Fitzgerald: six grandchildren, Katelynn Fish, Cameron Fish, Logan Conger, Adrianna Conger, Conley Fish and Madison Bostick: sisters, Nora Quigley of Forest Park and Martha Sue “Mott” (Allen) Purvis of Fitzgerald, brother, Paul Beatty of Grover, NC. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Chauncey and step father, Ottis Glen Young.
