Obituary

Auburn - Albert H. Tessier, 94, of 160 Bryn Mawr Ave and Chatham, MA and Marathon, FL a retired industrialist died Sunday February 23 in The Meadows of Leicester after an illness.

Mr. Tessier leaves his wife of 72 years Sylvia O. (LaPrade) Tessier; two sons Bernard Tessier of Worcester and Russell Tessier of Paxton; two daughters Gloria Ouellette of Spencer and Anita Tessier of Worcester; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mr. Tessier was born in Worcester son of Joseph and Georgianna (Lebel) Tessier and lived in Worcester and Auburn all of his life.

Mr. Tessier owned and operated the Handy Pad Supply Co., manufacturers of medical and surgical supplies. At the outbreak of World War II he purchased the former Wickwire-Spencer Factories to expand production of military medical supplies, employing some 1500 employees in this effort.

He was the recipient of several citations for his production achievements, inventions and cost saving designs for the government. His designed "Battle Dressings" were credited as being one of the most important medical items used by the Navy Department during World War II.

Mr. Tessier also established the former Parson's Cider Mill and Greenhouse which was known as a Worcester Landmark, Handy Manufacturing Corporation, Handy's Outlet Store, Handy Specialty Corporation, Bern - Russ Realty and Lincoln Realty Companies.

He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed fishing and pilotig his own aircraft for both sporting and business pursuits. He held a multi-engine pilots license as well as a sea plane rating.

Mr. Tessier maintained a summer home in Chatham where he enjoyed fishing and flying. He also pursued his fishing hobby in the winters at Marathon, FL.

The funeral will be held on Thursday February 27 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond Street, Worcester with a mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Entombment will be in the family mausoleum at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are on Wednesday February 26 from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
