DRACUT - Wilfred K. "Tony" Vassell, 59, died Tuesday, April 29th, 2008 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with his wife by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Tony, a resident of Dracut, was the beloved companion for 31 years of Gail (Robblee) Vassell. They have been married for 12 years.
He was born on September 15, 1948, in Kingston, Jamaica, a son of the late Wilfred S. Vassell and the late Doris B. (Campbell) Douglas.
Mr. Vassell worked as a real estate agent for 25 years, most recently employed by RE/Max Prestige in Dracut.
In his free time he enjoyed playing golf and was a member of a local golf league. He loved traveling, working in the yard, and helping everyone he came in contact with.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Wendell Vassell of Miami and Lloyd Vassell of Bermuda; his sister, Genevieve Fransisco and her husband Oscar of Dorchester; several cousins, nephews and nieces.
He was also the brother of the late Rupert Vassell, the son-in-law of John Robblee, and the brother-in-law of Dean Robblee.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT on Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 PM, followed by his funeral service at 4:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Cancer Association, 1988 Momentum Place, Chicago, IL 60689-5319.
