Joseph R. “Shark” Vital Jr., age 76, a lifelong resident of Fall River until his illness, where he resided with his daughter & family in E. Freetown. Passed away April 27, 2008 in Fall River. He was the husband of the late Anne Marie (Mackey) Vital. Born in Fall River, son of the late Joseph Rego & Maria (Medeiros) Vital. Prior to retiring, he worked as a boat builder at the former O’Day Boat Co. for 25 years. After retiring, he worked part time for the former Caldor Department Store in the Maintenance Department. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church & the Teamsters Union Local 526 of Chauffeurs & Warehousemen. He enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, & the sun. He was an avid fan of all New England Sports.
He is survived by 2 children: Wayne Vital & his wife Eurides of Fall River and Jo Anne Vital Bernier & her husband Mark of E. Freetown. 2 Siblings: Norman R. Vital & his wife Patricia of Westport, and Deolinda “Dolly” Perry of Fall River. 5 grandchildren, several great grandchildren & several nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Irene DeMello, Mildred Manchester, & Marcelina Raposa.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Tuesday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Thomas St. at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling Hours Monday 5-8 P.M.
