TYNGSBORO - George H. Varounis, age 53, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 24, 2008, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl (Nobrega) Varounis with whom he celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary last October 23rd.
He was born August 12, 1954, and raised in Lowell, a son of Harold and Angie (Emanuel) Varounis both of Palm Bay, Florida. He attended Lowell High School and joined the Army in 1973. He worked as a customer service rep at Sears in Nashua, NH. Previously, he had worked at Home Depot in Nashua.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Sonya and Doug Covey of ME, Trisha and John Downs, of ME; his sons, Andrew Varounis of Tyngsboro, Ryan Varounis of Methuen; his step-daughters, Ashley Nobrega and her partner of Lowell, and Alyssa Nobrega of Tyngsboro; a brother, James Varounis of Lowell; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence and Gerard Vincent of Lowell, Patricia and Dave Stanton of FL; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was the brother-in-law of the late Shirley Varounis.
His Funeral Service was held Monday evening, April 28, in the funeral home. Donations to the George H. Varounis Memorial Fund C/O Lowell Five Bank, 2021 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, MA, 01826, will be appreciated.
