Elva I. (Pitt) Flanders, 80, of Derry, NH, died Friday, April 25, 2008, in the Villa Crest Healthcare Center in Manchester, NH after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Flanders was born in Derry on November 11, 1927, a daughter of Theda (Iveson) and Oscar U. Pitt. She was a lifelong resident of Derry and attended the Derry school system. Mrs. Flanders attended the Central Congregational Church in Derry Village. She had been employed by the W.T. Grant Co., Klev-Bro Shoe Co., and lastly at Treasure Masters Corp. until retirement. Mrs. Flanders enjoyed her many trips with her husband to Maine, Hawaii and Bermuda.
The family includes her husband of 48 years, Warren A. Flanders of Derry; her son, Ronald Lee and his wife Deena of Ackworth, GA; her daughter, Sandra (Lee) McKenney and her husband Jerry of Allenstown, NH; four grandchildren, Kimberly Lee, Ryan Lee, Raymond Holland, and Robert Holland; four great grandchildren, Charlene Moody, Justine Holland, Kelsey Holland, and Scott Holland; her sister, Elaine Mills of Penacook, NH and Florida; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, April 29th from 5 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 10:00 in the funeral home. The burial followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Associaton, 1 Bedford Farms Dr., Suite 105, Bedford, NH 03110.
