Ret. Maj.Alvin M.Vertrees, 82, of Cunningham, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at Spring Meadows Health Care. The funeral will be held at 11am Monday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev. Billy Smith and Rev. Greg Jones officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1pm and 5pm Sunday and from 10am till the hour of service Monday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born July 15, 1925 in McLean County, Ky. son of Virgil F. Vertrees and Blanche Morris Vertrees.He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Audrey Sharkey Vertrees. He was a retired Major of the US Army.He was a Charter Member of The Park Lane Church of the Nazarene.He was currently member of First Church of The Nazarene. He is survived by sons James(Kaye)Vertrees of Palmyra, Thomas(Carolyn)Vertrees of Cunningham, Mark(Karen)Vertrees of Cunningham, one sister JoAnn Tanner of East Point, Ga, nine grandchildrn and thirteen great grandchildren.
