Obituary

Victor A. Ferri, Jr., a retired Highway Department Supervisor, died Friday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was 87.

Mr. Ferri was born in Somerville and raised in Medford the son of the late Victor and the late Thomasina (Poto) Ferri. After graduating Medford High, Victor served in the Navy during World War II. He served on the cruiser USS Denver and was engaged in battle throughout the Pacific, including Solomon Island and the Philippines. His many commendations included the Asiatic Pacific Medal with 11 battle Stars. Victor worked for many years with the Medford Department of Public Works and retired as a Highway Department Supervisor. He was a Member of the VFW Post 1012 and the Irish American Club.

Victor was the beloved husband of the late Charlene (St. Pierre), who died in 1989. He was a devoted father to Victoria LoConte of Malden, Michelle Ferri of Everett, Charlene Snyder of Hawaii, Diane Martinez of Everett and the late Lenny Chiapperini. He was the dear brother of Lawrence Ferri of Rockport, the late Robert, Richard and John Ferri. He also leaves 16 Grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 - 8. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery. Services will conclude with a Luncheon at the VFW Hall, Mystic Ave., Medford.
