Obituary

Jesup-Mr. William Glenn “Bo” Thomas, III, age 53, died Monday, April 14, 2008. Bo was born in Appling County General Hospital on October 29, 1954. He graduated from Wayne County High School in 1972. He attended Georgia Southern College in Statesboro, Georgia and graduated with honors from The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy in 1977. After graduation, Bo returned to Wayne County. He worked in several local pharmacies and later served nineteen years as the Director of Pharmacy at Wayne Memorial Hospital. In 2005, Bo became the manager and co-owner of the Woodbine Pharmacy. He was a successful businessman and real estate investor.

In civic affairs, Bo was a past President of the Jesup Jaycees, member of the Jesup Elks Club Lodge 2133, Kiwanis Club, Camden Lions Club and Ducks Unlimited. He also served on the Wayne County School Board. In recent years, Bo served as an officer and director of the Satilla River Landing Property Owners’ Association, Inc.

Bo was an avid sportsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and was a passionate fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. Bo was not one to waste a moment of any day; he milked the minutes out of life for all they were worth.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 20 years, Patsy H. Thomas; children, Karen Thomas and Chad Brownell of Ft. Collins, Co; Matt and Kristen Thomas of Liverpool, NY; Keith Cowart of Augusta, GA; and Heather and Brandon Stanfield of Jesup; granddaughter, Lia Stanfield; grandson, Aiden Thomas; Bo’s mother, Nancy Thomas of Jesup; brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Susan Thomas of Marietta, GA; sister and brother –in-law, Terri and Robert Aitkens of Atlanta, GA; sister and brother-in-law Charlotte and David Hoover of Crawfordville, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William Glenn Thomas, Jr.

A Memorial Service for William Glenn (“Bo”) Thomas III will be held Friday, April 18, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Big Sky Pond at the Thomas Farm off Empire Road with the Reverend Dr. Wayne Ates and Dr. Thomas Williams officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 17, 2008 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM from Howard~Jones~Nobles Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances should be made to Hospice of South Georgia at 112 Drennen Drive, Jesup GA 31545 or to the Bo Thomas Scholarship fund for students from Wayne County and Camden County who attend The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy, C/O Dana Strickland, Director of Development, and 148 Green Street, Athens, GA 30602.
