Gregory A. Tougas, 46, of Dartmouth, died April 15, 2008 suddenly at home.
He was the husband of Cynthia S. (Hall) Tougas.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Roger and Yvette (Monuteaux) Tougas of Dartmouth, he lived in Dartmouth all of his life.
Greg, known to his friends as "Tougie", was the proprietor of New Bedford Pest Control, Inc. He also served the Town of Dartmouth as a Town Meeting member, a 2 term School Committee Member, a Town Government Study Committee member, a Park Board member and was on the Recreation Committee.
Greg was a volunteer for the Dartmouth Girls Athletic League where he coached girls basketball and softball. He was the head hockey coach at New Bedford High School from 1980 - 1984. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Country Club of New Bedford and played in many of the annual 4-Ball Tournaments.
Greg enjoyed summering at Peters Pond in Sandwich and the company of Shelby, his Dalmatian.
He was a graduate of Stonehill College.
Survivors include his wife; his parents; a daughter, Courtney Tougas of Dartmouth; 2 sisters, Deborah Vieira and her companion Frank Prenda, of Dartmouth, and Lynette Robitaille of New Bedford; his mother-in-law, Joan Hall of New Bedford; his sister-in-law, Sandra Cadieux and her husband Wayne, of Dartmouth; his brother-in-law, Randall Hall and his wife Tracy, of Mattapoisett; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother-in-law of the late Roger Robitaille and son-in-law of the late Webster Hall.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Saturday, April 19th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, April 18th from 2-8 PM.
