ARLENE ELIZABETH (CHANDLER) ORR, a resident of Cohasset for 63 years, died at her home on Wednesday March 5th, 2008. She was 91. Mrs. Orr was born in Kingston, MA, the daughter of the late Leon B. and Ellen J. (Watson) Chandler. She was a graduate of Kingston High School and Boston Business School. She was the Assistant Treasurer for the Town of Cohasset for many years, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Orr was an avid bridge player and Red Sox fan and was well known for her knitting and sewing. In addition, she was a long time member of the Second Congregational Church of Cohasst.
Mrs. Orr was predeceased in 1990 by her husband of 50 years, George W. Orr, and was the mother of Suellen Torrey of Atlanta, GA, Nancy Topor and her husband Richard of Aiken, SC and Douglas Orr of Cohasset. Sister of Jane McLean and her husband Roy of Kingston and Doris Chandler of New York City. Grandmother of Heidi Torrey, Myles Torrey, Scott Topor and his wife Heather and Eric Topor. Also survived by 4 great grandchildren and her loving friends, Andy, MaryAnn, Emma and Ian Boothroyd of Marshfield.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, April 19th at 11 AM at the Second Congregational Church, 43 Highland Ave., Cohasset, MA 02025.
Visiting hours and flowers are omitted by request. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Second Congregational Church of Cohasset. The interment is to be private.
