Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Doris “Dot” Claxton Neighbors, age 85, of Swainsboro, GA on Friday, April 11, 2008, at the Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.
Memorial services are Monday, April 14, 2008 at 11:00 AM in The First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne DeFore officiating. The family will receive friends at Durden-Hudson Funeral Home Sunday, April 13, 2008 from 6-8 PM.
Mrs. Neighbors was a native of Emanuel County a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Homemaker, and Friend. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church, The C. I. Hall- John R. Flanders Sunday School Class, The Saturday Nite Supper Club, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Neighbors was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Neighbors and her Mother and Father, Rufus and Nancy Claxton.
Survivors include: One Daughter and Son-in-Law: Nancie and Mike Stanford of St. Simons Island, GA; One Son: John M. Neighbors of Swainsboro, GA; Two Grandsons and Granddaughters: Todd and Wyndi Damato of Fitzgerald, GA, Doug Damato of Pass Christian, MS.; One Great-Granddaughter: Gracen Lorie Damato of Fitzgerald, Ga.; Two Sisters: Lucille Brantley of Kite, GA and Ruby Flanders of Swainsboro, GA; and Her Best Friend: Anna Smith of Swainsboro, GA.
