Pauline Alice Connor Johnson, 90, of Tifton died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2008, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton's First Baptist Church. Dr. Wayne Roe and Dr. W. Ches Smith, III will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Lee, Michael Brooks, Chris Brooks, Wally Colwell, Michael Franks, Chad Clements, Tom Connor and Jerry Connor. Honorary pallbearers will be the Frank Raley Sunday School Class of Tifton's First Baptist Church, Buddy and Gloria Kulbersh, Buddy and Mary Ann Bowen, Ralph and Evelyn Edwards, Steve and Louise Woodham, Van and Debbie Graves, Bill and Lisa Reinhardt, Danny and Beverly Sterling, Duke and Barbara Snyder, Dr. Tisha Williams and Dr. Greg Anderson. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 12, 2008, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Johnson was born on December 7, 1917 in Tifton and was the daughter of Joseph Dixon Connor and Gertrude Barnwell Connor, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Allen Simmons Johnson, Jr., who died on December 5, 2004; an infant son, Carey Van Johnson, who died on May 6, 1948; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Estelle Connor Spurlin and her husband, Walter C. Spurlin, Helen Connor Martin and her husband, Charles, and Georgia Connor Dyer and her husband, Nathan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwin "Pat" and Annie Lou Connor and Claude and Velma Connor She was a homemaker and a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church and the Frank Raley Sunday School Class. She always enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren's presence. Her hobbies, in earlier years, were cooking, sewing, working in her yard, and traveling.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by one son and daugter-in-law, Paul and Karin Johnson of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Kenny Brownlee of Tifton and Carol and Don Martin of Tifton; nine granddaughters and their spouses, Becky B. and Bob Lee, Kim B. and Wally Colwell, Mandy B. and Chris Brooks, Amy D. and Michael Brooks, Krista D. and Chad Clements, Debbie Dunn, Vanessa J. and Michael Franks, Lisa Johnson and Amanda Johnson; and nine great grandchildren, John Michael Brooks, Julie Ann Brooks, Jackson Lee, John Austin Lee, Griffin Lee, Kennedy Brooks, Carter Brooks, Parks Colwell and Kaitlyn Clements; and three wonderful care-givers, Melvin Genright, Rose Smith and Catherine Harris.
