In Taunton, April 10, 2008 Abel B. died after a brief illness in Longmeadow of Taunton at the age of 83. Abel was the husband of Mary (Canning) Ventura for 57 years. Abel was born in Cambridge. He was educated in Raynham, where he has lived for most of his life. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. Abel worked as a nursing assistant for the Brockton V.A. for over 25 years. He enjoyed gardening, animals and loved his grandchildren. Besides his wife Mary, Abel leaves his three children John Ventura of N.C., William Ventura of East Taunton and Mary Ann Rivard of Norton. Abel’s beloved Grandchildren Harlee Ann & Samantha Spring Ventura both of East Taunton, Nicholas & Peter Rivard of Norton. His siblings Mary Gosselin of Plymouth, Janet Fournier of Marstons Mills, Florence Kable of Taunton, Angelina Gosselin of Carver and the late John, William, Joseph, Frank and Lorraine Ventura and Georgina Given Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. in Taunton on Mon., April 14th at 10am. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Ann’s Church in Raynham at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sun. from 2-5pm. Interment in the family lot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
