Obituary

Lillian (DeFreitas) King, 82, of Manchester, died April 8th, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born May 11, 1925, in Lowell, MA, the daughter of Frederick and Gabriela (Rodiques) DeFreitas. She graduated from St. George School in Manchester and was a lifelong resident of the area.
Lillian enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending winters in Florida and summers in Bethlehem, NH. She was famous for her cooking and loved playing cards. She was the essence of compassion and devotion to her family. She was blessed with strength of character and a sense of humor that affected everyone she met. She was truly valued by her family. She will be missed dearly by all.
For sixty years, she was the dedicated and beloved wife of Peter J. King of Manchester. She was the devoted mother of six children, Brenda King-Powers and her husband Arthur, grandchildren, Ana Cristina and Angelica, and great-granddaughter, Caroline, all of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; Donna L. King of Nottingham, NH, grandson, Ryan and his wife Holly, and great-granddaughter Alexandra of Manhattan Beach, CA; Margaret A. King, with grandson, Spencer, both of Manchester; Peter J. King Jr. and his wife Barbara (Boo), with grandchildren Rose Z. and Griffin Z. of Deerfield, NH; Michael S. King and his wife Deborah, with grandchildren Connor and Riley of Deerfield, NH; Kara King Walsh and her husband Brian, with grandchildren Bridget, Lillian, Joan Marie, and Liam of Alexandria, VA; She was the devoted sister of Aura Harrington of Sturbridge, MA, her late sister, Clara Roeder of Rancho Mirage, CA, Mitilda Phillipy and her late husband, Walter of Manchester, Celeste (her twin sister) and her late husband Francis P. King of Manchester, Frederick DeFreitas and his wife Annabelle of Exeter, NH, Richard DeFreitas and his wife Kathleeen of Manchester, Gabriel DeFreitas of Manchester. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and Godchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday April 11, 2008 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Litchfield. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
