Sterling—Lillian S. (Wilson) O’Handley, 91, of Clinton, died April 6, 2008, in Sterling Healthcare Center. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara O’Handley of Paxton and Christine Bachant and her husband, William, of Clinton; a son-in-law, Charles Peckham of Hardwick; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lois A. Peckham, two sisters, and one brother.
Lillian was born in Worcester, daughter of Albertina (Mattson) and Otto E. Wilson. She received her nurse’s training at the New England Sanitarium and Hospital in Stoneham. Lillian was a Registered Nurse at several Worcester-area hospitals, retiring from Worcester State Hospital. She was an alumnus of Atlantic Union College. She was an active member and former Deaconess of Atlantic Union College Seventh-day Adventist Church and was a member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association. A true matriarch, Lillian was loved by everyone—family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at The College Church, 337 Main Street, Lancaster at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 12th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the James N. Peckham Memorial Scholarship Fund, 4 Nobile Place, Leominster, MA 01453. Burial of ashes will be in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester at a later date.
