Mr. Walenty Charewicz, a resident of Andover since 1951 and beloved husband of Marian (Batchelder) Charewicz, died at the Academy Manor Nursing Home in Andover on Saturday, April 5, 2008.
He was 86 years old.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on August 27, 1921, he was the beloved son of the late Alexander and Katherine (Zaludliewicz) Charewicz. Mr. Charewicz was a long time communicant of St. Augustine Church of Andover and a graduate of Lawrence High School. He served during WWII in the 13th Air Force 11th Airdrome Squadron of the US Army Air Corps. While in the military, Mr. Charewicz was stationed in New Guinea, Northern Solomon’s and the Southern Philippine’s. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Philippians Libertarian Ribbon with Bronze Stars.
Mr. Charewicz was employed as a programmer Analyst for Raytheon, retiring in 1985 following 26 years of service.
He will be sorely missed by one son and one daughter-in-law; Michael J. and his wife Deborah (Wedge) Charewicz of Andover, two grandsons; Jason M and Brett C. Charewicz and several cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Augustine Church 43, Essex Street, Andover, Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at 10:30 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Calling hours were Tuesday, April 8, 2008, prior to the Mass from 9 to 10 AM. Burial was in St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Lawrence. For additional information please visit www.burkemagliozzi.com.
