Edward J. Irwin, 76, of Cimmeron Circle, Londonderry died Thursday February 20, 2003 at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 29, 1926 in Boston, MA, a son of the late Edward J. and Elizabeth (Costello) Irwin. He was a resident of Londonderry for 22 years, formerly living in Merrimack. Mr. Irwin was a US Air Force veteran serving as a Sergeant during World War II. He was an airplane armorer and gunner in the Pacific Theater. Prior to retirement he was employed in the trucking industry as an office worker. He was a member of the Londonderry Senior Citizens. He attended the Londonderry United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Hanks) Irwin, Londonderry, four daughters, Janice White, Reading, MA, Carol Grace, Lowell, MA, Diane Cohen, Andover, MA, Sandra Massey, Warrenton, VA, one son, Edward J. Irwin, Manchester, 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one sister, Mary E. Herbert, Reading, MA, two brothers, Eugene Irwin, Richard Irwin, both of Canton, MA, several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Monday February 24th at 1:00pm at the Londonderry United Methodist Church, corner of Mammoth Road and Pillsbury Road, Londonderry. Burial will be in the spring at the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, NH 03086.
