Obituary

Stephen E. Austin, 53, died at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 6 after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Kathleen M. (Tobin) Austin. Born in Boston, he was a longtime resident of Stoughton. He also lived in Norton for over 18 years. He was a graduate of Stoughton High School and Lowell Tech (UMass Lowell) and played on the hockey team at both schools. Mr. Austin worked as a civil engineer for Jacobs Engineering in Boston as the resident Engineer at Logan Airport since 1997. A handyman, he was a faithful Red Sox and hockey fan who enjoyed watching sports on TV, playing poker and golf. He also enjoyed vacationing with his wife and friends.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Austin is survived by his children, Stephanie R. Austin of Somerville and Jason S. Austin of Stoughton, as well as his father, Floyd B. Austin of ME and his brother, Peter E. Austin of Framingham. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Rose (Fustolo) Tobin of Stoughton, several brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his infamous poker envelope. He was preceded in death by his mother, Victoria (Condangelo) Austin and father-in-law Richard L. Tobin.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, April 10 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. Burial will be private. Donations in Stephen‘s memory may be sent to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
