Obituary

WORCESTER-James V. Armstrong, Jr., 77, of Worcester died Sunday, April 6th in the Life Care Center of Auburn. His wife, Mary V. (Cashmon) Armstrong died in 2003. He leaves a son, 1 SG William J. Armstrong of the 1st Civil Support Team Massachusetts National Guard; and several nephews and nieces. Three sisters, Sally Ann Bauder, Rona Tucker and Arlene St. Peters predeceased him.

He was born in Holden, the son of James V. Armstrong, Sr. and Blanche E. (Welsh) Armstrong and was a graduate of Holden High School. Mr. Armstrong was employed by Wyman-Gordon as an ultra sonic technician for 34 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a Korean Conflict U.S. Air Force veteran. Mr. Armstrong was a member of North American Martyrs Church, the American Legion, the U.S. Steel Workers Union and the YMCA.

The funeral is Friday, April 11th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, April 10th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605 or to the Wounded Warriors Family Support Fund., 1719 North 60th Street, Omaha, NE 68104.
