Violet (Tavares) Joaquim, age 86 formerly of Somerset. Widow of Antonio Joaquim & daughter of the late Joseph & Mary (Correia Soares) Tavares. Passed away April 6, 2008. Born in Fall River, she was a Somerset resident for 30 years before returning to Fall River 3&1/2 years ago. She was a member of St. Patrick Church, Somerset & was a retired trimmer at Needlecraft Dress Co. & worked at Clifton Geriatric Nursing Home and the Chase St. School.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Delores Medeiros & Cynthia Gibeault both of Somerset; 3 brothers: Joseph Tavares of Fall River; Arthur Tavares of Somerset & Richard Tavares of FL; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren & several nieces & nephews. She was sister of the late William Tavares & grandmother of one late grandchild.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. Wednesday at 8 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, Somerset at 9 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Tuesday 4-8 P.M.
