CENTER CONWAY , NH- Martin J. “Joe” Cormier, age 81, Formerly of Tewksbury, and
recently of Center Conway, NH. Died Suddenly on April 3, at Maine Medical Center in Portland,
Maine. Born October 16, 1926 to the late Martin and Elizabeth (Mooney) Cormier. Loving
husband to Dorothy (Maher) Cormier. Joe was a 1948 graduate of Malden High School after
serving two years in the Coast Guard during WWII. In 1949 he married Dot, also of Malden. He
was a member of the Norman Prince Drum and Bugle Corps and was one of the founding
members of the Orbiteers Drum Corps of Tewksbury of which all five of his children were
members, along with many other Tewksbury families. He was also a member of the St. William’s
Men’s Club, the Elks, the VFW and the International Brotherhood of Police Officers. Joe was a
fun loving guy who was loved by all who knew him and to whom he fondly became known as
““Booty.”” He was also known by his alias: Santa Claus, bringing joy to many children
throughout the years, right up until this past Christmas when he paid a visit to a local hospital. A
former skier and an avid golfer he spent his winters in Florida polishing his skills and hitting up the
early bird specials. He is survived, and will be sorely missed by, his wife Dot, his son Michael
Cormier of El Paso, TX, daughter Donna Cormier of Center Conway, daughter Patti Capone and
husband Michael of Canterbury, NH , daughter Mary Jo ““M.J..”” Britton and husband Chip of
Fryeburg, ME , and Thomas Cormier of Tewksbury, MA; seven grandchildren, Joseph Cormier of
San Antonio, TX, Jessica Cormier of Albuquerque, NM; Sara, Laura and Katherine Holtby of
Center Conway and Jocelyn and Tim Britton of Fryeburg, ME; Great-Grandson Dylan Holtby of
Center Conway (who provided Booty with much joy these past two years);.sister Mary O’’Leary
and her husband Gene of Medford, brother Bill and his wife Carol of Ashburnham and BFF John
““Jack”” Murphy and wife Evelyn of Intervale, NH, and numerous nieces, nephews and other
friends and relatives. Brother of the late Rita Sullivan and her husband Dick, grandfather of the
late Timothy Holtby. His Funeral will be on Monday April 7, at 9 am from the Tewksbury
Funeral Home 1 Dewey St. Phone (978) 851 2950. His Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, April 7,
in St. William's Church Tewksbury. Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery. Donations can
