Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” (Blackey) Eaton died on Friday, April 4th at Wingate at Needham. She was 92 years old. Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Claude T. and Ethel M. (Illingworth). Betty grew up in Newtonville and was a graduate of Newton High School. A Needham resident for over 60 years, Betty was a former member of Needham Women’s Club. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Needham for over 60 years and was a member of the Friendly Society at the church. Betty enjoyed opera and classical music. She was famous for her care packages of home baked cookies. Betty will be most remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and great grandmother. The beloved wife of the late Howard A. Eaton, she was the loving mother of Jeanie Goddard and her husband Brooks of Needham and the late Gail E. Walker. Mother in law of Frank Walker of Durham, NC and sister of the late Donald I. Blackey. She was the dear grandmother of Peter H. Goddard and his wife Natasha of Newton, Donald C. Walker of Los Angeles, CA and Kirsten E. Walker of Brighton and great grandmother of Brian Padilla, Nia Elizabeth and Miles Luis Goddard. A Memorial Service will be held at the Congregational Church of Needham 1154 Great Plain Ave Needham on Monday, April 14 at 3:30 PM Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Westminster is private. In lieu of flowers donations in Betty’s name may be made to the Gilmanton Year- round Library PO Box 413, Gilmanton NH 03237.
