Joseph L. Cirelli, Sr., of Sharon, formerly of Brockton, died unexpectedly Thursday evening at Norwood Hospital after being stricken at home. He was born and raised in Brockton, son of the late Emidio and Maria (Salerno) Cirelli. He attended Brockton schools and was a graduate of Brockton High School. He had been employed with Cirelli Foods, Inc., since 1950 serving as its’ President and was Vice Chairman of the Board at the time of his death.
He was a member of the Brockton Rotary since 1980 and served as Chairman of Community Services, Director of Charitable and Educational Fund, as well as receiving many humanitarian awards. He was a Trustee of Bridgewater State College Foundation, Board Member of Combined Health Appeal and a Volunteer Driver for the American Cancer Society.
He enjoyed gardening and photography. He had a passion for music and played the mandolin and piano.
He is survived by his wife Margaret “Peggy” (Vosgerchian) Cirelli3 daughters, Linda B. Loffert of New York City, Michelle D. Cirelli of Falmouth, Lisa M. Wilkinson of Abington, 2 sons Stephen J. Cirelli of Brockton, and Joseph L. Cirelli, Jr. of Abington, his stepdaughter Ani D. Fenerjian of Cliffside Park, NJ, and stepson Stephen M. Fenerjian of Watertown, MA.6 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, 2 brothers John N. Cirelli of Pinellas Park, FL and George A. Cirelli, Sr. of Bridgewater
He was the brother of the late Victor L. Cirelli and Margaret Cirelli
A private wake was held Wednesday morning with a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton with burial following in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
