Mr. Donald F. Johnson, 76, of 344 Willard St., Berlin, NH passed away on Thursday April 3, 2008 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester after a long illness. He was born on January 4, 1932 in Dummer, NH the son of Emil W. and Alberta (Woodward) Johnson and lived most of his life in the Dummer-Milan-Berlin area. He graduated from Berlin High School and attended school in Chicago to become an electrician. He was part owner of Pennock Appliances, worked for Granite State Rubber Co., worked for Andy’s Electric and Ray’s Electric and lastly for Cianbro Corp. for many years. He served in US Army for 4 years. He was a member of the Gorham-Sabatis Lodge #73 F & AM, the American Legion Post #82 in Gorham for 19 years, the White Mountain Post #2520 VFW and the Joliette Snowshoe Club for many years. His favorite pastime was being at the Cedar Pond Campground with his fifth wheel camper and sitting in front of the fireplace. He will be sadly missed by his many relatives and friends. A special thank you goes out to Annie Morton for the care she gave to him for many years.
Members of the family include his longtime companion Jan Duguay of Berlin, NH: 2 daughters Fredrika Wells and her husband Stratton of Oceanside, CA and Annelisa Wagner and her husband Larry of So. Berwick, ME; a sister Emily Tankard and her husband Clifford of Milan, NH; 7 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Emil and Alberta Johnson.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday April 5, 2008 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Milan. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin, on Friday evening fro 7 to 9 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Norway St., Berlin, NH, 03570 or to a charity of one’s choice.
