Sr. Sebastien-Marie (Sr. Irene Yenlin), 94, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, 495 Mammoth Rd., Manchester died February 19, 2003 in her residence.
Born in Holyoke, MA on June 21, 1908, she was the daughter of Sebastien and Zelpha (Bellefeuille) Yenlin. She entered the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in 1927, made her first profession in 1929 and her final profession in 1934.
She was an educator for 65 years including eight years at Three Rivers, MA, 36 years at Rosary House in Exeter, England and eight years as principal at Palace Gate, also in England. She also ministered in Sligo, Ireland for seven years. During her time in Europe, she served as Superior for 15 years.
Sr. Sebastien-Marie returned to the U.S. in 1993 and retired to the Cenacle in Hudson. She was transferred to St. Joseph Residence in Manchester in 1998.
The family includes two sisters, Cecile Gagne of S. Hadley, MA and Mrs. Jeannette Houle of Lansdale, PA; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday February 22, 2003 in the Resurrection Chapel. Burial was in Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson.
Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester was in charge of arrangements.
