Obituary

Georgenia Francis Albani, 87, of Manomet (Plymouth) and formerly of Millis, MA and Tequesta, FL died at home Tuesday, April 1st surrounded by family and loved ones. She was the wife of the late Frank Vincent Albani Sr. Born in West Natick on August 12, 1920, the daughter of the late George and Agnes (Gray) Ulrich and the step-daughter of Mary (Whitman) Ulrich. A graduate of Natick High School, class of 1938. Georgenia was married at the Saint Linus Church in Natick on May 3, 1952. She and her husband moved to Walpole and set about raising a family. After a few years the family moved to Millis where they lived for 24 years. A lover of beauty, and a romantic at heart, she was always ready for an adventure particularly if it involved an early morning treasure hunt through the yard sales. She found her spiritual home on the rugged coastline of Maine. Happiest with a full house and a good book, dispensing advice and loving a debate, she was fascinated with history and politics and served on the historical society in Millis. In 1967 she and her husband bought a large summer home in Manomet which she aptly names “Homeport”. Her summer home would quickly become the focus of her family’s life. She was a devoted wife, mother, surrogate mother, grandmother and friend. She and her husband Frank raised eight children, but her guidance and wisdom touched countless children in the community. She had a kind and generous spirit and a big heart and made sure that her homes were open at all times and on all occasions to the many relatives and friends of the family. During summers at Manomet, she would routinely preside over an evening meal with up to 40 family, neighbors and guests. No one was ever turned away from her table. She is survived by her sons; Frank Albani Jr. and his wife Sally of Manomet, Michael Albani of Lubec, ME, George Albani and his wife Mary of Lubec, ME; Peter Albani and his wife Debbie Burgio of Denver, CO, Joseph Albani of Satelite Beach, FL and James Albani and his wife Madeline of Essex, MA. Her youngest son Paul Albani preceded her in death on August 7, 1986. She had one daughter Margaret Dodd and her husband Eric of Winchester, VA. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday, April 7th at 11AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 111 Exchange St, in Millis. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Sunday April 6th at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd (Rt 3A), Plymouth (Manomet). She will be buried along-side her husband and son in the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Millis. Donations in her memory may be made to the Soule Homestead Educational Center, 46 Soule St, Middleboro, MA 02346.
