BARBARA TOWNSENDBarbara Townsend, 86, formerly of Randolph and Boston, died Sunday Feb. 16, 2003 at Hammond Pointe in Brookline.Born in Newton she grew up in Weston and graduated from Weston High School. She worked as a sales manager at Boston Music Company for many years and then became the showroom manager for Schmidt Brothers in the 1960’s, a gift importing company where she worked until her retirement in 1990. Barbara was always very active and engaged in many recreational activities including bicycling, skiing, fencing and singing and she also loved animals. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines chorus. She traveled twice to the Olympics, first to Rome in 1960 and then to Munich in 1972. She was also a fine artist in oil colors and pen and ink drawings. Daughter of the late Earl H. and Frances (McKenney) Townsend, and sister of the late Eunice Bornstein, Frances Dean and David Townsend. Her nieces and nephews Peter Townsend, David Townsend, Deborah Townsend, Patricia Washington, Sandra Calhoun and Pamela Dean survive her.A memorial service will be held on Sat Feb 22 at 11 AM in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St Newton Corner.
