Obituary

Wilfred C. Emond of Kingston died on April 1, 2008. He was 85 years old. Mr. Emond is a decorated war veteran having served in the United States Air Force as a Captain and as a Pilot. Mr. Emond flew a Flying boat and was involved in Air and Sea rescue in the pacific during World War II, flew in support from Greenland during the Korean War, and served in air operations in Hawaii, at Otis AFB in Massachusetts, and in Vietnam.
He is a Bronze Star medal recipient for gallantry in Vietnam during the enemy’s Tet Offensive for his part in the defense of Bien Hoa air base, and was also awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and Victory medal after World War II, the National Defense Service medal with bronze star for service during the Cold War and the Vietnam Service Medal as well as numerous other honors.
Following his service in the Air Force, Mr. Emond went to work for the United States Postal service where he worked for fifteen years. He was a talented handyman who enjoyed fixing things, spending time outdoors, as well as woodworking.
He is the Husband of 60 years to Louise E. (Perrault) Emond of Kingston. Loving Father of Stephen C. Emond and his companion Ann Farrar of Kingston, Nancy E. Radigan and her Husband Peter of Duxbury, and Suzanne L. Richards and her Husband Grant of Kingston. Cherished Grandfather of Sarah and Jenny Radigan of Duxbury, and Heather and Amy Richards of Kingston.
Services will be private.
