David Glenn Thompson of Jacksonville, Florida died Friday, March 28, 2008, at Haven Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chula. Rev. Michael Drury will officiate with burial to follow in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Chula. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Thompson was born on July 1, 1946 in Tift County and was the son of Croswell Alet "Boss" Thompson and Gussie Mioma "Granny" Smith Thompson, both deceased. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years in Orange Park, Florida and faithfully served in the United States Air Force for 20 years.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Veralucia Thompson of Jacksonville, Florida; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lillian and Rev. Mike Drury of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jennifer and Allen Derus of Jacksonville, Florida; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Larry and Annette Thompson of Tifton, Bobby and Marie Thompson of Sumner, Charles and Glynis Thompson of Lakeland, Florida, and Steve Thompson of Tifton; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy "Dot" and Lowell Beard of Sycamore, Brenda and Bobby Gay of Camilla, and Ann and Royce Cromer of Sycamore; and six grandchildren.
