Obituary

Curtis L. Ivey, 72, of Bedford, died February 17, 2003, at Catholic Medical Center, after a brief illness.

Born in Pikeville, Ky, April 2, 1930, he was the son of Thaddeus and Helen (Bledsoe) Ivey. He was raised in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, lived in Buffalo, NY for 31 years and in Pittsburgh, Pa for 11 years before moving to New Hampshire in 1995.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Ivey was graduated from the University of Akron and The State University of New York at Buffalo with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering. He spent his entire career with Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Buffalo, NY and Pittsburgh, Pa. He was a design engineer for 42 years involved with the design of automatic control systems worldwide for the process industries, public utilities, NASA, several aircraft manufacturers, and the US Navy. He was the holder of 5 US patents. He retired in 1995 as a Fellow Engineer.

Mr. Ivey was active in the Institute of Electrical Engineers holding several national offices and was a Life Fellow Member.

He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Seton Church.

Family members include his wife of 49 years, Jean M. Ivey of Bedford; a son, Richard C. Ivey of Melbourne, FL; 4 daughters, Barbara J. Ivey of San Francisco, CA, Janet R. Murray of Lancaster, NY, Nancy Ivey O’Connor of Bomoseen, Vt., and Carolyn A. Macomber of Milton, Mass.; 3 grandsons and a granddaughter.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday February 22, 2003 in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford. Burial was in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
