NEW BEDFORD — Wilfred A. Upham, age 82 years, of Dartmouth died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Emily (Sylvia) Upham. He had been a resident of Sunrise Assisted Living Facility in Dartmouth.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late John H. and Mary (Perry) Upham and lived in this community all of his life.
Wilfred served in the US Army during World War II and then as a civilian worked for the Army as an administrator at Fort Rodman base for over twenty years. He had been active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Mr. Upham was a baptized and confirmed member of Grace Episcopal Church, was a baseball enthusiast and his hobby was model trains.
He is survived by his daughters, Delores Almeida and Honorina White, both of New Bedford, nephews, and grandchildren, Denise White, Shaun and Jaclyn Almeida and Steven LaFerriere.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, from 6-8 P.M., in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., NB. His service will begin on Thursday at 9 A.M., at the funeral home, followed by funeral service with communion at 10 A.M., in Grace Church, 422 County St., at the corner of School St., NB and burial in Rural Cemetery.
