Barbara A. (Colby) Young, a resident of Malden for the last 7 years and lived in Everett for several years before moving from Charlestown, died suddenly at her home in Malden on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008. She was 63 years old.
Barbara was born in Boston on January 31, 1945. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School. While bringing up her family in Charlestown, Barbara became involved and was one of the founding members of the Bunker Hill Tenants Task Force of The Boston Housing Authority. She was also a member and Past President of the Women's Auxillary for the Charlestown Militia. Recently Barbara had been working as a manager for a fast food restaurant.
Barbara is the devoted mother of Robert Young of Hudson, NH, Richard Young of Charlestown, Barbara A. Young-Forero of Woburn, Michael A. Young of North Reading, Gerard Young of Woburn, Joseph Young of Norwich, CT, and Sean Young of Westerly, RI. She is the loving grandmother of 23 grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Marion Faye of Middleboro, Linda Colby of Melrose, Gerry Colby of North Billerica, the late Joseph and Albert Colby. She is the former wife of Robert J. Young.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday, March 28, 2008, at 10 a.m. in The Christian Assembly Church, 9 Cummings Street, Somerville (next to Somerville Court House). Visiting hours for Barbara will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
