Luis Valente, age 89 formerly Fall River. Widower of Maria Conceicao (Cabral) Valente & Mary (Faria) Valente. Son of the late Antone Pinto Duarte Valente & Maria Rosa Sereno. Passed away March 23, 2008. Born in Cimbres Beiralt, Portugal. He resided in New Bedford 9 years & previously Fall River for 22 years. He was a member of St. Michael Church, a self-employed grocer in Portugal & he retired from Pearson Boats.
He is survived by 7 children: David Valente, Elza Duarte, Mafalda Costa & Judith Almeida all of Fall River, Esmeralda de Pereira of Sao Miguel, Natalia da Rosa of Canada & Luisa Valente-de Sousa of New Bedford; l sister: Belmira Duarte of Portugal; 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren & several nieces & nephews. He was father of the late Madelina Camara & sister of the late Jose, Joao & Rafael Valente.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. Thursday at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Michael Church at 10:30 AM. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 5-9 PM.
