Obituary

Mr. Edgars Treimanis, age 85, of St. Vincent de Paul Healthcare Center, Berlin, NH passed away on Sunday March 23,2008 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. He was born in Berzmuiza, Latvia on November 3, 1922 the son of Frica and Anna (Sankevics) Treimanis. He had worked for the Latvian State Railroad and later taught engineering at a college in Germany. Mr. Treimanis had served in the Latvian Legion during WW2. He moved to Boston, MA in 1949 and became a US citizen in 1956. On February 12, 1950 he married Inese Kalnins. He was employed at Bethlehem Steel making nuclear powered ships. He later moved to Millinocket, ME where he worked as an engineer for the Great Northern Paper Mill. He moved to Berlin, NH in 1966 to work for the Brown Company. Mr. Treimanis retired from James River Corporation in 1987. He was very active in Boy Scouts, both in Latvia and in the United States. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Berlin and was a member of the Latvian Association - DV, ASV, Inc. His wife of 57 years, Inese (Kalnins) Treimanis predeceased him on October 23, 2007.

Members of the family include his sisters Nellie and Milda, both of Latvia; his godsons Andris Lenbergs of Franklin, MA and Alvils Eglitis of Latva; a very special family friend Karmen Ziedins of Norwood, MA, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. .

SERVICES: There will be no calling hours. Services for Edgars Treimanis and his wife Inese will be held during the Memorial Day weekend at the Latvian Memorial Park in Elka Park, NY. Donations in his memory may be made to AVH Home Health and Hospice, 59 Page Hill Road, Berlin, NH, 03570. Arrangements are by the Bryant Funeral Home in Berlin, NH.
