Obituary

Auburn-Mildred C. (McIntyre) Kimer, 86, of 486 Washington Street died Saturday, Febraury 15 in the UMass Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Campus, Worcester after being stricken ill.

Her husband, Theodore Kimer died in 1968.

She leaves three daughters, Joan M. Valone of Auburn, Patricia Palermo of Ronkonkoma, LI, New York and Barbara A. Bohan of Pembrook Pines, Fla; a son, Theodore R. Kimer of St. Petersburg, Fla; a brothers, Joseph J. McIntyre of Long island, NY; 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and nephews and nieces. Her sister, Gladys Ports and Emily Gilmore both of Long Island, NY predeceased here .

She was born in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Catherine (Cover) McIntyre and lived many years on Long Island before moving to Auburn 17 years ago.

Mrs. Kimer worked for many years for Grumman Aviation on Long Island, where she assembled computer chips.

She loved to knit, crochet and was an avid quilter. She was a member of Project Linus, a group of quilters who produce quilts for sick infants inlocal hospitals. She enjoyed her weekly meeting with her friends at the church for quilting.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 19 at 10 AM in the First Congregational Church, 128 Central St., Auburn. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.

Visiting hours at the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, (www.brittonfuneralhomes.com) Auburn are Tuesday, February 18 from 4-7 PM.
