New Bedford-Alfred Leon Avery age 65 years died March 18, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness. He was the loving husband of the late Carol (Hatch) Avery. Loved father of Wendy Silva and Shawn Avery both of New Bedford, Tracy Crehan of Bellingham, MA. Holly Palmer of North Dighton, MA. He was the brother of Donald Avery of GA., John Avery Jr. of FL. and the late Barbara Crowley. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Avery was the son of the late John Leo and Gertrude Mae (Braley) Avery. He was a lifelong city resident. He was a machine operator at Alberox Corp. until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the Bass Masters Society.
Mr. Avery’s Funeral Services will be at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. Friday at 11:30A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery Visiting will be a half hour prior to service.
