Obituary

John “RED” D. Gray, 82, died Monday March 17th in the South Shore Hospital after a period of failing health .He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Smith), (Flavin) Gray. He was the son of the late John and Lily (Nicholson) Gray. John was born in Milton, raised in Quincy and attended Quincy Schools. He has been a resident of Hanover for 30 years and was a salesman of paper products for the John D. Gray Co. for 20 years before retiring. John was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a steadfast honorary member of the Weymouth Elks # 2232, Top 3 Military Retired, Disable Veterans Chapter # 29 in Braintree in 1980 and the VFW # 5737 Abington and Veteran of Foreign Wars. In his younger years, he was avid sailor.

He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Gray and his wife Bettina of Duxbury, Steven Gray and his wife Madeleine of ME, Peter Gray and his wife Beth, David Gray and his wife Ann Marie all of Marshfield, his step-son Richard Flavin of Weymouth, his step-daughters, Christine Dwyer of Plymouth and Sandra Bopp of Bourne; also many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Robert Gray.

His funeral services will be held on Friday March 21st at 9:00 A.M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (RT 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Hanover Center Cemetery, Hanover. Visiting hours will be on March 20th from 5:00-8:00 PM.
