Obituary


Athena (Ballos) Angelopoulos, 94, died Friday, March 14, 2008. She leaves a son, Anthony Angelopoulos, 2 daughters, Vasiliki Angelopoulos and Loukia Stanelis, 1 sister and 3 brothers, Arete, Haralambos, Pantales, and Petro; 4 grandchildren, Matthew, Cassandra, Michelle, and Nicholas; 4 great-grandchildren, Danyle, Cole, Michael, and Alexander; and many nieces & nephews. Her husband of late, Michael Angelopoulos, was the founder of Montrose Restaurant in West Boylston together with co-partner Arthur Shocas. Three brothers, Yannis, Elias, and Theodore predeceased her. She was born in Plesion, Greece, daughter of Amalia (Tzoyas) and Simeon Ballos. Athena was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Philoptochos Society. She loved traveling and was a very devoted wife, mother, etc.

The funeral service will be in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester MA 01609, 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 20. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours and you are asked to go directly to the church for the 10 a.m. funeral. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. is directing arrangements.
