Obituary

BEVERLY: Dominic A. “Doc” Amore, 87, died Sunday, March 16, 2008 in the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of Rita J. (Kennedy) Amore.
Born in Lawrence on July 18, 1920, he was the son of the late Alfio and Barbara (Ragonese) Amore. He had resided in Beverly most of his life. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Dominic was employed as a barber for many years at the former Freddie’s Barber Shop on Rantoul Street and had once owned his own shop.
He was a member of the Italian Community Center in Beverly, Vittori-Rocci Post #56, Herman A. Spear Post #331 American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans, MA Chapter #83.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara J. and James Consoli of Hamilton, two sons and a daughter-in-law, John H. Amore and James M. and Paula (Fabri) Amore all of Beverly, a sister, Ida Menesale, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles Amore and Joseph and Virginia (Fisher) Amore all of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother-in-law, Dominic Menesale and a sister-in-law, Catherine (Campbell) Amore.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday in the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the “Pennies for Haiti” c/o St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly, MA 01915. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
