Daniel J. Young, 68, of Bedford, NH, died March 15, 2008 after a short illness.
He was born in Manchester on August 6, 1939, the son of William and Matilda L. (Tanguay) Young. He attended McDonald School and Bishop Bradley High School before earning his degree from New England College.
Most recently, he had been the owner of Daniel Young & Associates surveying company and had previously worked as an engineer and surveyor for the State of NH Highway Department for many years.
Dan was a devoted family man who found his greatest joy spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved sports and always attended his children's and grandchildren's games to offer his support. He was a founding and charter member of the Greater Manchester Walking Association.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Seton Church.
Members of his family include his wife of 46 years, Jane (Welch) Young of Bedford; his children, Daniel J. Young Jr. and his wife Barb of Orlando, FL, Beth Ann Donovan and her husband Patrick of Goffstown, John Young of Manchester, Mazie Mills and her husband David of Manchester, Joseph Young of Bedford; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Brian, Kailah, Kylee, Sean, Kenny, Jake, and Charlie; one brother, William Young of Portsmouth, RI; one sister, Doris Young of Manchester; many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Francis Young and James Young.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday March 18, 2008 in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Rd, Bedford. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
