Obituary

Lawrence S. Evans, 67, of Hampstead, NH died suddenly February 13, 2003 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. Mr. Evans was born in Nashua on March 5, 1935 the son of the late Paul and Marion (Gilson) Evans. He graduated from Pinkerton Academy, Derry in 1953 and served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. Mr. Evans had resided in the Derry area most of his life. He had owned and operated Evans Gulf Service at 3 Crystal Ave., Derry from 1958 to present. He was a life member of the Derry Lions Club and a member of St. Mark’s Lodge #44 F & AM, Derry. Mr. Evans was a dedicated family man who loved to spend time outdoors with his wife and children at their lake home on Island Pond.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lois (Fortier) Evans, Hampstead, two sons, Michael Evans, Boston, Ma, Timothy Evans, Derry, two daughters, Deborah Harvey, Berwick, Maine, Terri Sirois, Merrimack, five grandchildren, Tiffany Evans, Christopher Evans, Jessie Evans, Ryan Harvey, Rebecca Harvey, four brothers, Paul Evans, Arthur Evans, Robert Evans and Wayne Evans. He was predeceased by his grandson Justin Harvey and granddaughter, Precious Moments Evans and by his two brothers, Ronald Evans and Howard Evans.

Calling hours will be held Sunday Feb. 16th from 2 – 5pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Masonic ritual will be held Sunday at 4:00pm during calling hours. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00am in the funeral home with cremation to follow. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central New England Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101A First Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, Ma. 02451-1115.
