WEBSTER - Alice R. (Sgariglia) Poplawski, 82, of 28 Greystone Avenue, died Monday, March 10, in the University of Mass./Memorial Healthcare, 55 Lake Ave. North, Worcester. Her husband of 55 years, Charles J. Poplawski, Jr., died in 2004.
She leaves a daughter, Linda A. Paquette and her husband David A. Of Webster; a son, James M. Poplawski of Mesa, AZ; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was born and raised in Dudley, daughter of William and Josephine (DiDonato) Sgariglia. She lived briefly in Oxford before moving to Webster over 50 years ago.
Mrs. Poplawski was a packer at Sandlerette Footwear Company and at Bates Shoe Company before she retired.
She was a member of Saint Louis Church and a weekly adorer at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. She loved dancing and bowling. She was a member of the Silver Dippers.
The funeral will be held Saturday, March 15, at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. There are no calling hours. Donations in her name may be made to either the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, 17 East Main Street, or to Saint Louis School Endowment Fund, 14 Lake Street, both Webster, MA 01570. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street.
