Mary Marks Powers Mary Marks Powers, 80, Clarksville, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at her residence. The funeral will be held at 2 pm Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Clarksville Faith Sanctuary with Dr. John David Laida officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday and from 1 pm until the hour of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Powers was born February 19, 1928 on the family farm in Gholson, TN. She was the daughter of Albert Smith Marks and Louise Hunter Marks and a life long resident of Montgomery County. She was a graduate of Clarksville High School and the University of Tennessee.As a career mother, Mrs. Powers was actively involved in school, scouts, sports and church with her three sons. She was an advisor for Chi Omega at Austin Peay, a long time member of Les Candides Garden Club, a member of DAR (Captain William Edmiston Chapter) and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband Richard Randolph Powers, Sr. and three sons, Richard Randolph Powers, Jr., New Baden, IL; Albert Marks Powers, Dallas, TX; and William Spencer Powers, Clarksville; and six grandchildren, William Spencer Powers, Jr, Sidney Louise Powers, Albert Henry Powers, Seth Randolph Powers, Nathan Charles Powers and Elizabeth Adele Powers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Powers' nephews; Albert P. Marks , Arthur H. Marks, Jr, George M. Marks, Albert S.Marks IV, A. Hunter Marks, III, Ben P. Marks, Rob W. Meadows and four grandsons; Spence Powers, Seth Powers, Henry Powers, and Nathan Powers.
