KEATING, Avis M., age 100, of Jamaica Plain, MA, passed away March 9, 2008. Beloved wife of 62 years to the late Edward V. Keating, Clerk of Criminal Courts for Suffolk County. Loving mother of Edward V. Keating, Jr. of Duxbury, Attorney Kevin M. Keating of Plymouth, and Dwight M. Keating and his wife Margaret of Pittsburgh, PA. Sister of the late Walter Murphy, the late Hazel Willard, Geraldine Foley and Claire Aussant. Also survived by her sister-in-law Catherine C. Murphy. Grandmother of Mary Dotson, Christine Coakley, Kathleen Keating, Michael Keating, Timothy Keating, Brian Keating, John Keating, Nora Gvozdov, and Ann Ash. Also survived by 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Worcester, she graduated from Uxbridge High School and the Worcester Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Avis lived in Jamaica Plain for 66 years. Avis was a retired nurse who worked at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) for 20 years, where she was the Head Nurse of the OB-GYN Clinic. Avis was also an operating room nurse at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. After retiring, Avis volunteered for decades at MGH and the Faulkner Hospital. A fitness and yoga enthusiast, Avis also golfed regularly at the Needham Country Club well into her nineties. Avis was an active member of the St. Thomas of Aquinas parish in Jamaica Plain for more than 6 decades. Above all, Avis was devoted to her family.
Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY on Wednesday March 12, at 9:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. John Chrysostom Church, 4750 Washington St. WEST ROXBURY at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday from 5-8 PM. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery.
