Jean F. O'Day, of Princeton Avenue, Providence, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Hopkins Manor, North Providence.
Born in Newton Highlands, a daughter of the late James R. and Evelyn P. (Shea) Doyle. She had been a resident of Providence and had previously lived in Smithfield. She had lived in RI for 57 years previously living in Worcester and Newton, MA.
She been a secretary for Dr. James Paras at the Anna McCabe Elementary School in Smithfield until 1980 and had worked as a secretary with Blue Cross in Providence. She had enjoyed being a mother and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Ann Lynch of Glocester, Beth O’Day of Providence, her three sons, Mark V. O’Day of Manhattan, NY, Capt. Kevin M. O’Day, USCG of Novato, CA , and Robert P. O’Day of Johnston, a twin sister, Jane Rooney of Newton, MA, two brothers, James Doyle of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Jack Doyle of Orlando, FL, a son-in-law Capt. Stephan Lynch, RISP, Aunt Mildred Shea of Auburn, MA, and her grandchildren, Mathew, Conor, Olivia, and Kelsey.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Smithfield. Visitation Tuesday 4-7pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Hopkins Manor Patient Activities Fund, 610 Smithfield Road, North Providence, RI 02904.
