Obituary

TYNGSBORO: Earl R. “Buddy” Powers, Jr. age 57, a Tyngsboro resident for the past 3 years, formerly of Lowell, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at home.
He was the special loved one of Carol A. Pratt, with whom he resided of Tyngsboro.
Born in Lowell on July 21, 1950, he was the son of Dorothy M. (Spracklin) Powers, who survives him, of Tewksbury and the late Earl R. Powers, Sr.
Mr. Powers was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1968.
In 1970, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany during the Vietnam War.
Prior to his honorable discharge, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the M-16 Expert Badge.
Mr. Powers was a self employed contractor for over 30 years, who according to his family “enjoyed working with his hands and took tremendous pride in his work”.
He enjoyed many activities including fishing, watching N.A.S.C.A.R. races, camping, playing keno, and hiking.
In earlier years, he attended St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Billerica.
In addition to his special loved one, Carol and his mother Dorothy, he is survived by two sons, Earl R. Powers of Burlington and Joseph L. Powers of Winchester; two grandsons, P.J. and Richard B. Powers both of Winchester; Carol’s children, Rebecca Young of Henniker, NH, Heidi Pratt of Tyngsboro, Heather Pratt of Lowell and Marlaina Pratt of Wilmington; one brother, Robert E. Powers and his companion Anne Gerard of Nashua, NH; one nephew, Erik Powers of Nashua, NH.
Calling hours Monday, March 10th, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral service Tuesday, March 11th, at 11:30 a.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Greater Lowell V.N.A – Hospice, P.O. Box 1965, Lowell, MA 01853 are requested.
