John Almeida, age 66 of Somerset since 1973. Husband of Mary Jane (Soares) Almeida. Passed away in Somerset March 7, 2008. Born in Fall River, the son of the late Joseph & Isabel (De Mello) Almeida. He was a Marine Painter for Blount Marine in Warren, RI. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #850 of Woonsocket, RI & of the Rhody Rovers of RI.
Besides his wife of Somerset, he is survived by: 4 Children: John M. Almeida of Fall River, Michael Almeida of Swansea, Wayne Almeida & Susanne M. Alves both of Somerset. 2 Sisters: Nancy Resendes of Swansea, & Patricia Stanfield of Walterboro, SC. 2 Granddaughters. 4 Step Grandchildren. 1 Step-Great Grandson. Several nieces & nephews. He was Grandfather of the late Ryan Alves and brother of the late Joseph Almeida, Jr. & Mildred Kirby.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS &SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. Tuesday at 10 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. Dominic Church, GAR Highway, Swansea at 11 A.M. Interment in Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset. Calling hours Monday 4-8 P.M.
